Artificial Intelligence has been entering all aspects of our daily lives for years now. Recently, we have been hearing more about A.I. in business settings and in government contracting. I discovered I have been using A.I. without knowing it for years and you might be too. A.I. can be a beneficial tool to your everyday work or it could be a secret spy that is gathering all your patent pending data. I am going to lay out the Pros and Cons for using A.I.

Pros:

Increase Productivity

Increase Efficiency

Increase of Quality of Output

Improved compliance

Cost savings(administrative costs)

Cons:

More likely to Burnout

Over-reliance Risk

Lack of Diversity in Thoughts

Risk of Security and Data privacy

In Zoom meetings previously, when it notifies you that the Zoom meeting is being recorded and taking notes, that is a form of A.I. If you hit allow for the recording you are giving the Artificial Intelligence access to your computer. Another form of A.I. is screening RFPs and auto-drafting emails. Other forms of A.I. are Microsoft Cortana, Google Assistant, and chatbots that have been injected into our daily lives. A.I. can be a great tool when you are looking for RFPs or contract opportunities but it is not a good tool to use when drafting your proposals or bids. Oftentimes, A.I. should not be included in government bids or proposals you are submitting because certain agencies will throw out your submission if A.I. is detected. Reliance on A.I. can ultimately lead to less creativity, errors in information, and could lead to legal penalties. When A.I. gains access to information, it tends to reuse the information it’s been granted. If you have confidential information or new data you don’t want leaked elsewhere, don’t allow A.I. into your software.
